Knighthawks to Hold Rookie Camp

October 19, 2016 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks will hold a Rookie Development Camp from Wednesday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario. The event will give the rookies and invitees an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the team's management and lacrosse staff.

"It will give our draftees an opportunity to come in and learn our system. They can get comfortable with us and get comfortable with the process," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. "At the same time, we are opening it up to everybody. If there is someone we might have missed, it gives them an opportunity as well."

The four-day Rookie Development Camp will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the ILA. The second session will commence on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The final two camp days are slated for Monday, Nov. 7 and Thursday, Nov. 10 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Athletes interested in receiving an invitation to Rookie Camp, must be pre-registered by completing the registration form and including a lacrosse resume, references and photo. Click here to download the form.

Players will sign an NLL Participation Waiver upon arrival at camp. Please advise the team of any injury or pre-existing conditions and bring required medication or devices. It's recommend that all invitees attend all four sessions. Players should bring their own equipment and sticks. Any and all expenses to attend the Rookie Camp are the responsibility of the athletes.

The invitees will join Rochester's promising rookie class, which includes six players selected at the 2016 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. The newcomers are forwards Josh Currier, Kyle Jackson, Dan Lomas, Luke Laszkiewicz and Brine Rice, and transition man Tyler Albrecht. The Rookie Camp will allow the players to meet all of the coaches, and understand their expectations before training camp begins in late November.

"It's just increasing that comfort level. We have four dates to concentrate on them and us at the same time," said Hasen. "So, when they come into training camp, they will have a greater chance of success."
