Knighthawks to Add Local Flavor to Roster for Montreal Preseason Game

The defending champion Rochester Knighthawks and the Toronto Rock will add some local flavor to their rosters for the National Lacrosse League preseason game on Saturday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. The game at the Bell Centre, which is home to the Montreal Canadiens, will include two Quebec lacrosse players.
The NLL teams will attend a selection camp on Saturday, November 17th at Le Club West Island in Beaconsfield, where each team will choose one Quebec player. Assistant General Manager Landon Miller will represent the Knighthawks at the camp, which will be under the direction of former NLL head coach Jamie Batley.
"Selecting a kid to participate in a game between rivals like us and Toronto is a great chance to showcase our organizations and provide the experience needed to play at this level," said Miller.
For the first time in a decade, lacrosse will return back at the Bell Centre in downtown Montreal. The last professional lacrosse game played at the Bell Centre was during the 2002 season by the Montreal Express. In their only season in the NLL, the Express finished 8-8. The Knighthawks went 2-0 against Montreal, which included a 21-16 victory at the Bell Centre on February 17, 2002. The Knighthawks are excited to play in the game, which could re-energize the city's interest in box lacrosse.
"We will always be an organization that steps up to promote the game anywhere," said Miller. "It's not only an organizational mandate....it has cultural importance for myself and (Owner & GM) Curt Styres."
Players interested in attending the camp must be 18 years old and over, and must be members of the Quebec Lacrosse Federation or residents of Quebec. The registration deadline for the selection camp is Thursday, November 15th.

The Knighthawks will kick off their preseason schedule against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 8th at 8:00 p.m. FREE Tickets are available online at Knighthawks.com. Fans must have a ticket to enter the game at The Blue Cross Arena.
