Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks (4-3) moved into sole possession of second place in the East Division with a 15-10 victory today in New England against the Black Wolves. It was Rochester's second 15-10 win in two days after defeating Buffalo last night by the identical score.

The Knighthawks again used a late fourth-quarter run to earn a road win, scoring the contest's last four goals. Craig Point (3+3) and Dan Dawson (2+4) led the offense with six-point performances, while Jordan Hall (1+4), Cory Vitarelli (3+2) and Cody Jamieson (3+2) each chipped in five-point efforts. Rochester also made good use of its power-play chances, scoring on all five opportunities to go nine for 10 on the weekend. Matt Vinc made 38 saves in the win, and received shot-blocking help from Ian Llord, Scott and Brad Self, and Paul Dawson.

The Knighthawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and weathered a Black Wolves' run to take a 4-3 lead into the second. The first quarter was very eventful with a combined seven goals and 64 minutes in penalties. The first half would end in a 6-6 tie, but Rochester pulled ahead in the third and never trailed the rest of the way. The Knighthawks outscored New England 9-4 in the second half as they continued to pepper goalie Evan Kirk.

Point powered the fourth-quarter run by scoring off a Dan Dawson shot at 7:35 to make it 12-10. Hall and Dawson then scored 21 seconds apart to ice the game. Brad Self added an empty-netter with under two minutes to play to give the Knighthawks a weekend sweep over East Division opponents.

On Saturday, February 21st, Rochester will return home to take on the Buffalo Bandits. Fans can purchase single-game tickets for the 7:30 p.m. contest at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com and through the Knighthawks Office.
