Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, March 13)... Rochester Knighthawks Joe Walters, Stephen Keogh, Joel White, mascot R. Thunder and the Knightingales dance team joined the festivities at Mickey Finn's in Victor Sunday to help raise money for St. Baldrick's.

More than 110 donors shaved their heads in recognition of children with cancer to help fund money for life-saving research. The event also provided donors with the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and raffle. In addition, The Grease Paint Alley Clowns joined the event and made animal balloons for the children, and painted faces.

The Knighthawks provided two bears they made at the Victor Build-A-Bear Workshop. "Bearemy" and "Team Bear" were part of the silent auction, along with other team memorabilia. R. Thunder provided further excitement by mingling with the kids and posing for pictures. Walters, Keogh and White added to the success of the event by signing autographs and raffling off prizes.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find a cure for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. From 2005-12 the foundation has raised over $78 million and through two months in 2012 the foundation has already raised over $13 million with 36,401 "shavees."
