New Air Guitarists Flock to Wells Fargo Center to Attempt World Record
March 13, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings, of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), and classic rock station WMGK will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Largest Air Guitar Ensemble when the Wings host the Edmonton Rush at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m.
The current world record is 2,377 people playing air guitar in the same place at the same time. Between the first and second quarters of the Wings home game against the Edmonton Rush, WMGK nighttime DJ Ray Koob, will lead the crowd in some serious "air shredding" while guitar solo selections from Ac/Dc, The Who, and Lynyrd Skynyrd play through the venue's sound system. The first 8,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Philadelphia Wings guitar pick to aide them with the world-record attempt.
After the performance the Wings will submit video evidence and attendance records to Guinness authorities and expect to receive confirmation on the world record within six weeks.
Tickets to all Wings home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
