January 6, 2010 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres announced today that the team has extended forward Scott Evans' contract through the 2014 National Lacrosse League season.
"Scott Evans has a lot to offer this great game of lacrosse. He has the heart of a mountain lion and the skills to match," said Styres of the five-year extension. "Scott is a leader with grit, desire, commitment and strength that we are going to build the Rochester Knighthawks' foundation around."
Evans, 28, enters his sixth season with the Knighthawks and returns after suffering a season-ending injury in training camp in 2009. The former first-round pick had a career-high 44 goals and earned an NLL All-Star Game selection the season before his injury. The Peterborough, Ontario, native expressed his excitement for the 2010 season, which opens on Saturday, January 9th against the Buffalo Bandits.
"I'm really excited and happy to be in Rochester for the next five years," he said. "I love the city and the fans. I hope to be a big part of bringing more championships back to Rochester."
In 2007, he was a key member of the Knighthawks' Champion's Cup team. In his career, he has played in 80 regular season games and stands tied for fourth place on the team's all-time goals (156) and points list (322). He is also fifth all-time in assists (166). In 2010, he rejoins his brother Shawn Evans in the starting lineup.
Fans that want to see Scott Evans' return can purchase individual tickets at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, and at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office. The Knighthawks open their 16th season on Saturday, January 9th against the Buffalo Bandits. The game is set for an 8:05 p.m. start at The Blue Cross Arena.
