Scrimmage Game Cancelled
January 6, 2010 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Edmonton Rush News Release
Edmonton, AB-- The Edmonton Rush announced earlier this week that they would play a scrimmage game against Minnesota Swarm on Friday, January 8, unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the scrimmage has been cancelled.
"There is some grey fine print in the Collective Bargaining Agreement in terms of holding exhibition games/scrimmages after the regular season starts. We did not want to put the clubs, the league or the players at risk so the decision was made to cancel the scrimmage." states GM/Head Coach Keenan.
The National Lacrosse League regular season opens Friday, January 8.
"It is unfortunate that we are unable to play the scrimmage, but we will take the practice time and work on our systems."
Keenan will introduce the team and announce the team assistant captains on Friday, January 8 to the media at 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Leduc Recreation Centre, 4330 Black Gold Drive.
The Rush open the regular season on the road against the Washington Stealth on January 15 and the next day against the Colorado Mammoth at Pepsi Center on Saturday, January 16. The Rush open its home regular season on Saturday, January 23 against the Buffalo Bandits at Rexall Place.
