Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Williams gave an update today on the condition on his injury and it was good news for the veteran forward and Knighthawks fans. Williams said will be ready for training camp in late November, despite breaking his left arm Friday in a MSL Playoff game.

"I went to the doctor yesterday and they told me (I will be out) six weeks and then some rehab," said Williams. "I will definitely be ready for camp."

The injury occurred in Game 4 as Williams was driving toward the net. Williams was having a superb semifinal, scoring four goals and adding three assists in two games with the Brampton Excelsiors.

"It's those wooden sticks," said the 36-year-old forward. "They play tough defense up there."

The back-to-back Mann Cup champions lead the Six Nations Chiefs three games to two in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 is set for 8:00 p.m. tonight at Six Nations. The winner advances to the MSL Finals to determine who will represent the East in the Canadian Senior "A" Box Championship, the Mann Cup.

This summer, Williams won a silver medal earlier this summer with Team Canada at the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships and was a member of the Major League Lacrosse Toronto Nationals. In 2011, the Scarborough, Ontario, native will enter his 14th season in the NLL and 10th with the Knighthawks. The Rochester captain is second in team history with 724 points, 286 goals and 438 assists.
