Knighthawks Look to Extend Home Winning Streak Saturday Night

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks will host the Toronto Rock on Saturday, February 28th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The contest is the 100th regular-season home game in the 15-year history of the Knighthawks. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. Fans can watch the game live online via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.

That night, one lucky fan will win airfare and accommodations to Florida courtesy of the Al Sigl Center. In addition, one fan will win a Kodak digital camera. The Knighthawks will also hold an official postgame party at Legend's, located in the Clarion Riverside Hotel on East Main Street.

The game is the second of three meetings between the two teams. In the last meeting, the Knighthawks defeated the Rock 13-11 on January 31st at The Blue Cross Arena. Gary Gait scored four goals, including the game-winner with 5:55 remaining in regulation, to lead Rochester to its first win of the season. The win improved Rochester's all-time record to 13-0 on home turf against Toronto. Jason Henhawk and Aaron Wilson scored three goals each for Rochester, while Shawn Williams scored twice and Shawn Evans added a single. Williams also chipped in seven assists.

Rochester has won two of its last three games, including the win over the Rock. The Knighthawks have also won their last two home games. On February 21st, Rochester outscored the New York Titans 14-3 over the final three quarters to earn a 15-7 win. Craig Point (2+3) and Bobby McBride (2+0) both had impressive debuts, while veterans Williams (4+4) and Evans (3+5) had breakout games. Gait (13+9) did not play last weekend, but will be back in the lineup Saturday. Williams, who recorded his 600th point as a Knighthawk last game, leads Rochester with 40 points (12+28) in seven games. He is also tied for 10th in the National Lacrosse League in points. Steve Toll is fourth in the league with 88 loose balls. Goalie Pat O'Toole is 2-2 and is fifth in the league with a 10.25 goals-against average.

Toronto (2-5) enters the week tied for fifth in the East with the Knighthawks (2-5). The Rock play back-to-back games this week, which begins with a 7:30 p.m. game against the Minnesota Swarm on Friday, February 27th. The Rock have lost two straight and four of their last five. Jason Crosbie leads the Rock with 34 points (10+24). Craig Conn has five points (2+3) in two games since returning from an injury. On February 21st, the Toronto Rock acquired defensemen Mike Hobbins and Nick Carson. Hobbins made his Toronto debut later that night in the Rock's 17-16 overtime loss to Buffalo. Earlier in the day, 35-year-old, 10-year defenseman Dan Ladoucer announced his retirement.
