Knighthawks Fans Can Support Storm Victims

In the wake of the devastating storm that hit Penn Yan and the surrounding communities, Rochester Knighthawks fans will have the opportunity to support the American Red Cross and Camp Good Days and Special Times Saturday night. The Knighthawks will host Game Two of the East Division Finals at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.

The Knighthawks will collect donations for the Red Cross at the customer service booth, and donate the net proceeds from their 50/50 raffle to the humanitarian organization. To make a donation to Penn Yan area flood relief, you can call the Development office at the Rochester chapter of the American Red Cross at (585) 241-4421 or (585) 241-4420.

Fans can also make a donation at the Camp Good Days and Special Times table in the upper atrium lobby. The Camp Good Days Branchport Recreational Facility suffered major damage as a result of the flood. Any persons or groups that would like to help in the camp clean-up effort are urged to call (585) 624-5555 or 800-785-2135.

The Knighthawks have a strong connection to the Village of Penn Yan. Rochester Scout Brian Hobart, who teaches and coaches lacrosse at the high school, and Knighthawks Hall of Fame defenseman Pat Cougevan hail from Penn Yan. Knighthawks Director of Tickets Nate Snyder, and Ticket Operations and Social Media Manager Ben Cerow are also from Penn Yan.

"In times like these, it is important to support those in need," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "We are offering our support to not only the members of the Knighthawks family impacted by this storm, but to all the families who have been affected."

Snyder has seen firsthand the results of the storm that ripped through the area Tuesday night and caused flooding Wednesday morning.

"I came to work Wednesday with a heavy heart after seeing the news of what had happened in Penn Yan. When speaking with our President, Lewis Staats, he told me to head home and help out because he knew how much it meant to me to be there to aid in the cleanup efforts," he said. "Now the Knighthawks organization has stepped up again and I can't thank them enough for supporting the relief efforts of my hometown.

"Penn Yan is a great community full of resilient people who have all come together to support each other in this time of need," added Snyder. "All of the community members appreciate everything that is being done to piece the town back together. I know the support of the Knighthawks means so much to a town rich in lacrosse history."
