Knighthawks Activate Rowan Kelly

The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they have made a pair of player moves. The Knighthawks activated defenseman Rowan Kelly and placed defenseman Luc Magnan on the injured reserve list. Kelly is now available to play as Rochester battles the New England Black Wolves at 1:00 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena.
"It's tough to lose a player to injury, but I'm looking forward to the chance to step up for the team," said Kelly, who joined the Knighthawks after a March 11 trade.
The 22-year-old defenseman was acquired from the Colorado Mammoth, along with a third-round selection in the 2021 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, in exchange for defenseman Ian Llord. The Toronto, Ontario, native made his professional debut last season with Colorado after being selected by the Mammoth in the sixth round (55th overall) of the 2017 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.
"He's young and athletic. The effort has been there since we made the trade," said Knighthawks assistant coach Pat O'Toole. "It was just a matter of getting him on the active roster and seeing what he can do. Now, he has his opportunity. Hopefully, he goes out there and does a great job."
Prior to the draft, Kelly played five seasons with the Junior "A" Toronto Beaches. In 46 regular-season games, he notched eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points. At 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds, Kelly was also an impactful midfielder at Western University, where he won three consecutive Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association Championships (2016-18). This summer, Kelly played for the Cobourg Kodiaks and collected one goal and three assists in 13 Major Series Lacrosse games.
