(January 10, 2018)... The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they have activated forward Dan Lomas from the injured reserve list (IR). In a related move, the Knighthawks moved defenseman Billy Dee Smith to the IR.

"This is a good time for him to be back," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. "We know he is really hungry and will have something to prove."

Lomas will make his season debut this weekend as the Knighthawks square off against the Toronto Rock and New England Black Wolves on back-to-back nights. On Friday, Rochester will travel to the Air Canada Centre to take on the Rock. The following evening, the Knighthawks will host New England at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena.

Rochester (2-1) enters the pair of games tied for first place in the East Division with New England. Toronto sits just one half game behind the co-division leaders. It's a big early-season test for the Knighthawks.

"It's huge anytime you play a back-to-back, especially against two East Division teams," said Lomas. "Early in the year it's nice to win these games and put our best foot forward toward a playoff run. It may come down to games like these at the end of the season."

After an impressive training camp, Lomas worked himself back into shape to get ready for such a challenge.

"It was a bit of a mental battle with the injury and then trying to earn a spot back in the lineup," he said. "For me, it's about the team winning and continuing to do so. I have proven I can help the team win, so I am excited to have that opportunity again."

The addition of Lomas will create more space on the left side of the offense, which currently includes Kyle Jackson, Cody Jamieson, Eric Fannell and Cory Vitarelli.

"He will take the pressure off KJ and Jammer," said Hasen, "because he can carry the ball."

Last season, Lomas proved he was ready for the pro game, completing his rookie campaign fourth on the team in assists (23) and points (38). He was also fourth in the NLL in points among rookies, while recording points in 13 of his 14 games.

Assistant coach Mike Accursi has high expectations for the 24-year-old Lomas, who Rochester traded up to get in the second round (16th overall) of the 2016 NLL Entry Draft.

"Lomas had a fantastic season last year," he said. "I expect him to pick up where he left off. He is a dynamic player who can shoot from the outside, but also plays well on the inside. He is a great team guy and I'm glad he is back, ready to go."
