Vegas Knight Hawks News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Vegas jumped on the scoreboard early, as quarterback Ja'Rome Johnson kept the ball himself and ran it in for six. Jacksonville answered quickly when recently signed quarterback Fred Payton Jr. threw a quick pass to Kamrin Solomon. This gave the Sharks an early 7-6 lead. Johnson kept the offense rolling by finding Caleb Holley first for a 40-yard strike, then a quick pass in the back of the endzone. Vegas re-took the lead 13-7. Payton Jr. showed that he isn't the only dual-threat QB in the game, giving Jacksonville the lead again 14-13.
The second quarter began with two great runs from Antonio Wimbush before CJ Windham's touchdown catch gave Vegas the lead 20-14. The Sharks, however, missed their field goal attempt. After converting a fourth-down play near the endzone, Vegas padded their lead with a Quentin Randolph touchdown catch. The first half ended with both teams trading scoring drives, going into the locker rooms with a score of 34-21.
Jacksonville cut the Vegas lead to 34-27, following a Payton to Solomon touchdown pass. Johnson answered quickly with his second touchdown run of the game, increasing the score to 41-27. Payton Jr. showed off his elusiveness and scored himself. Jacksonville converted their two-point try, as Vegas' lead was cut to six points. Not to be left out of the scoring barrage, Antonio Wimbush ran in his first of the game giving Vegas a two-score lead.
The fourth quarter started with the Knight Hawks' defense standing tall and forcing a turnover on downs. The offense then took the ball and marched down the field, setting Wimbush up for his second score of the game. On Jacksonville's next possession, Bryce Hampton came away with the interception for Vegas. In the waning minutes of the game, Randolph caught his third touchdown of the game. The game ended with a 61-35 Knight Hawks win.
The Vegas Knight Hawks remain undefeated at 4-0 this season. They take the field again on April 27, as the Duke City Gladiators make the trip to Lee's Family Forum. Click here for tickets.
