Austin Bruins News Release

AUSTIN, MN - In the final meeting of the regular season between the two clubs, the Bruins would come away with a 2-1 final on home ice.

The playoff push for the Central Division is coming down to the wire as there were only 5 games left to play in the regular season. For the Norsemen, tonight was their 3rd game in 4 days so the Bruins were looking to capitalize on the possible fatigue that St. Cloud may have. Just 4:10 into the 1st period, Walter Zacher would give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead on his 12th goal of the season. St. Cloud would answer right back, however, as Dakota Lenz who was appearing in his first NAHL game would sneak a shot past Klayton Knapp to pick up his first career NAHL goal.

The 2nd period would start the same way as the 1st tied at 1-1. That would change when Anthony Menghini would get his 16th goal of the season on a nice breakout pass from Nick Catalano to beat Norsemen net-minder Ethan Dahlmeier low blocker side to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead 12:13 into the 2nd period. Thanks to multiple big saves from Knapp, the score would stay that way and the Bruins would come away with a 2-1 final tonight inside Riverside Arena. Knapp would stop 24 of the 25 shots he would face.

The magic number is now 1 as the Bruins need to win one more game to clinch a playoff spot in the Central Division. Up next they take on the Aberdeen Wings next Friday and Saturday night at home. Game time for both games is set for 7:05 PM.
