HONOLULU – The offices of arenafootball2 today named Hawaiian Islanders Defensive Specialist Eddie Klaneski as the ADT National Defensive Player of the Week.

Klaneski and the Hawaii defense held the San Diego Riptides to just 26 points and claim its first Western Division title. Klaneski recorded five solos, three assists, two pass breakups and two pass interceptions to preserve the win. On special teams he returned four kickoffs for 99 yards and a missed field goal return for 19 yards. The Islanders cored two touchdowns on drives following Klaneski returns.

Of Hawaii's 15 games, Klaneski was named the game's ADT Defensive Player of the game on six different occasions but never won the national award until this week.

The Islanders (10-5) will host Bakersfield (7-7-1) this Sunday in their regular season finale at the Blaisdell Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
