Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA - The defending MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX (0-4) dropped their fourth straight decision, and second this season to the Detroit Ignition (2-0) in front of 8,355 fans at the Wachovia Spectrum. The game began with a championship ceremony that included Philadelphia players collecting their 2007 MISL Championship rings and a championship banner raising. Jonathan Greenfield scored two goals for the Ignition including the game winner to spoil the ceremony for the KiXX.

With less than a minute remaining in the opening quarter of action, Philadelphia newcomer Angel Rivillo blasted home a three-point score on an assist from player/coach Don D'Ambra to give the defending champs an early 3-0 advantage. The Ignition responded a mere 20 seconds later, as Worteh Sampson found the back of the net for a two-point score (3-2) on a dish from teammate Vahid Assadpour.

Detroit defender Jonathan Greenfield provided the visitors their first lead of the night, notching an unassisted three-point goal (3-5) at 10:14 of the second stanza. With just 13 seconds remaining in the period, Philadelphia native Pat Morris re-directed a shot from D'Ambra to register his third goal of the season and pull the clubs even, 5-5, entering the half.

Veteran forward Aaron Susi recorded his first goal in a KiXX uniform after depositing a pass from Sandre Naumoski 52 seconds into the third quarter (7-5). Reigning MISL Most Valuable Player Jamar Beasley responded with a two-point score at 3:24 of the frame to again pull the clubs even at 7-7. Rivillo found the back of the net for the second time of the evening to give the hosting KiXX a two-point advantage at 6:12, but Detroit answered with a pair of scores to take an 11-9 lead into the final period of play. Richardinho struck first with an unassisted notch at 9:01, followed by Greenfield's second goal of the contest at 12:11.

Philadelphia failed to connect on a score in the fourth stanza to drop their fourth consecutive contest, 11-9.

The KiXX will remain at home next weekend to face the California Cougars on November 17. The match will be the first between the two clubs this season. Philadelphia took the season series last year against the Cougars, 5-1. Game time is at 7:05pm ET.
