Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, March 31, 2006 - The Philadelphia KiXX (8-19) conclude their two-game road trip with their last visit to Stockton Arena to battle the expansion California Cougars (9-19) on Saturday, April 1. The contest, the Cougars' Kick for Cancer Night, offers discounted tickets with proceeds benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual "Light The Night" event. The "Light The Night" Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide fundraiser to build awareness of blood cancers, improve the quality of life for patients and their families, and to continue the Society's more than 50 years of support for research specifically targeting a cure for blood cancers.. Game-time is scheduled for 10:30 pm ET.
With Philadelphia's 4-3 upset victory over the top-seeded St. Louis Steamers on March 30, the club pulls within two and one-half games of the fourth-placed Chicago Storm, pending the outcome of their contest versus Milwaukee on March 31, for the final position in 2006 MISL Championship Series. The Storm (10-16), who snapped a four-game losing skid versus the expansion California Cougars on March 26, still holds the seed with the Cougars (9-19) and the KiXX both within striking distance. California, winners of eight of their last 11, rank fifth and trail Chicago by two-full games, while the KiXX are seated in the cellar position and trail an additional one game. Chicago's magic number to eliminate Philadelphia is now two; any combination of Chicago victories/KiXX losses that equal two will eliminate the KiXX from postseason contention. Philadelphia has qualified for the playoffs in each of their previous nine years of existence.
The club returns to the Wachovia Spectrum to close out their 2005-06 home schedule versus the Baltimore Blast on Saturday, April 8. The first 2,500 fans to enter the gates will receive a 2005-06 KiXX Rally Towel, courtesy of G&J Automotive, Inc. The contest, dubbed "Fan Appreciation Night," also features special promotions and giveaways items from all of the team's corporate partners. Game-time is slated for 7:05 pm ET with the action televising live on CN8, The Comcast Network.
Mini-plans, Family 4-PaXX, birthday packages, group discounts and single-game tickets are on sale now by calling the club's ticket office at 1-888-888-KiXX (5499). Single-game tickets are also available at all TicketMaster outlets, as well as online at www.ticketmaster.com.
