Game Summary: A back-and-forth game ended 5-4 in favor of Kingston in the Leon's Center. The lead was lost four times throughout the contest and a five-goal chaotic third period made for an entertaining game. Carson Rehkopf scored twice in the loss as he, Trent Swick, and Hunter Brzustewicz each recorded two points each in the game.

1st Period

KGN 0, KIT 1

8:51 Carson Rehkopf (38) - Filip Mešár, Trent Swick

Carson Rehkopf finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play to put Kitchener up one. Trent Swick sent a pass down to Filip Mešár on the blocker side faceoff circle. As this happened Rehkopf snuck in behind the Kingston defenders and posted up next to the net. Mešár read the play and immediately sent a pass cross-ice to Rehkopf who one-timed it in giving the Rangers the first lead of the game.

2nd Period

KGN 1, KIT 1

8:47 Linus Hemström (16) - Luke McNamara, Jax Dubois

Kingston banked in a rebound to tie the game up. Jackson Parsons made an impressive save after Jax Dubois sent a cross-ice pass to Luke McNamara, however, the rebound was found in the crease by Linus Hemström and he tapped it in to tie the game at one.

KGN 1, KIT 2

14:58 Matthew Sop (31) - Hunter Brzustewicz

Hunter Brzustewicz and Matthew Sop connected to put Kitchener back on top. Hunter put a move on the Kingston defender and passed the puck to Sop who was streaking towards the net. Sop sent a wrist shot on the net that was stopped by Mason Vaccari, however, it bounced off Cal Uens while he was in pursuit of Sop and into the net.

KGN 2, KIT 2

19:26 Quinton Burns (5) - Christopher Thibodeau, Gabriel Frasca

Kingston tied the game up late in the second period following a sweet pass from Christopher Thibodeau. Gabriel Frasca got the play started passing it down low to Thibodeau. Thibodeau brought the puck to his backhand and fed Quinton Burns in tight between two defenders. Burns buried it to tie the game late in the second frame.

3rd Period

KGN 3, KIT 2

10:17 Jacob Battaglia (25) - Linus Hemström, Roman Schmidt

Kingston took their first lead of the game with a powerplay goal. Trent Swick took the high sticking penalty at 9:35 which led to the goal scored by Jacob Battaglia. Roman Schmidt passed the puck across the blueline to Linus Hemström. Hemström sent the puck low to Jacob Battaglia who put in his own rebound for Kingston's third goal of the game.

KGN 3, KIT 3

14:37 Luke Ellinas (8) - Tanner Lam

Luke Ellinas tied the game up at three with a snipe from the slot. The puck rolled up the boards to Tanner Lam at the point. Lam sent a cross-ice pass to Ellinas who had lots of time to put the puck in the net. He sniped glove side evening up the game at three.

KGN 4, KIT 3

17:41 Ethan Miedema (17)

Ethan Miedema put Kingston back on top with a standout solo effort. Miedema gained possession at the Frontenacs blueline taking the puck off the Rangers defender. He found himself on a full-ice breakaway and as he charged in he slipped the puck five-hole past Jackson Parsons.

KGN 4, KIT 4

18:12 Carson Rehkopf (39) - Trent Swick, Hunter Brzustewicz - PPG

Carson Rehkopf used his rocket of a shot to tie the game at four. Hunter Brzustewicz passed the puck down the boards to Trent Swick. Swick recognized that Rehkopf was wide open at the opposite point and sent a cross-ice pass to him. This beautiful pass set Rehkopf up with an impeccable opportunity as he sniped the puck perfectly through traffic and into the net.

KGN 5, KIT 4

18:44 Luke McNamara (8) - Cal Uens, Jax Dubois

Luke McNamara put Kingston back in the lead with 1:16 remaining on a screened shot. Cal Uens dropped a pass to McNamara atop the faceoff circle, leaving him with a shooting lane through traffic. McNamara read the play and fired it over Jackson Parsons's blocker, scoring the game-winning goal.

Second Star: Linus Hemström (1G, 1A)

Third Star: Carson Rehkopf (2G)

The Goalies:

Mason Vaccari got the start for Kingston, he made 24 of 28 potential saves and improved his record to 20-21-1 on the season. On the other side of the ice, Jackson Parsons made 21 of 26 potential saves for Kitchener. With the loss, his record moved to 19-13-1 on the year.

Up Next: The Rangers will travel to Ottawa tomorrow to wrap up their Eastern Ontario road trip. They will then return home Tuesday for a matchup against their Highway 7 rivals, the Guelph Storm. Kitchener has won four of the five matchups against the Storm, including the last one which included a late-game comeback and an overtime winner by Matthew Sop.
