Kingsport Mets 2015 Coaching Staff

KINGSPORT, TN. - The Kingsport Mets have announced their coaching staff for the 2015 Appalachian League season. Luis Rivera has been named as the Kingsport Mets manager, Jonathan Hurst returns as pitching coach and Sean Ratliff in his first season as hitting coach.
Rivera enters his first season as manager for the Kingsport Mets. Rivera had spent the previous three seasons as the Mets' short-season hitting coordinator. Rivera served as hitting coach for Kingsport in 2011. As a player, Rivera was a middle infielder in the minor leagues for the Mets and the Chicago Cubs organization from 2005-2010, making it as high as Buffalo (AAA) of the International League in 2009.
Hurst enters his sixth season as pitching coach for the Kingsport Mets. It's his 10th year as a pitching coach in the Mets organization. Hurst, who also pitched for the New York Mets, appeared in seven games in 1994. He also pitched for the Montreal Expos in 1992. Hurst also pitched professionally in Taiwan and Japan from 1998-2005.
Ratliff begins his first season as a minor league hitting coach. He was the Mets' fourth-round draft pick in 2008 out of Stanford University. Ratliff reached as high as Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League before an injury forced his retirement in 2012.
Gavin Grosh returns in his second year as the team's athletic trainer and his fourth season overall in the Mets organization. He had spent the previous two years as the head trainer at the Mets Dominican Academy. Grosh is a graduate of the University of Indiana.
Charles Jasper begins his first season with Mets organization as strength and conditioning coach. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Jasper graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science. In 2014, Jasper interned with the Ohio State Football Strength and Conditioning Staff and worked at Robert Morris University.
