Kings Improve Playoff Chances Before Record Crowd

Cincinnati - The Cincinnati Kings used a strong first half to defeat the Kansas Magic, 8-5 in PASL Eastern Division indoor soccer action Saturday night at the Cincinnati Gardens.

The Kings trailed in the first quarter off a goal by the Magic's player/coach, Randall Porter, six minutes into the game, but the Kings then rattled off seven unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead by the half. Allen Eller, Xavier University's Sam Fiore and Nik Djokic each collected two goals, with Drew Ducker getting the remaining score in the half on a Kings power play for the seven-goal run.

A franchise record crowd of 1,604 saw the teams trade goals in the third quarter, with University of Cincinnati product Jeff Henderson scoring to give the Kings an 8-2 lead going into the fourth. The Magic closed the gap with three goals late, but the Kings held on for the 8-5 victory.

With the win, the Kings move into a tie with the Illinois Piasa for the fourth and final playoff position in the Eastern Division. The Piasa will play this same Kansas team next Friday in their next to last regular season game.

The Kings also have two games remaining, both at home. The next Kings home game will be Saturday, February 11 against Ohio at 7:35 p.m. at the Cincinnati Gardens.
