Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Madison, Wis. - The Kingfish (19-29 overall) were topped by the Mallards 4-1 this evening.

Madison's starter, Mitchell Kilkenny, was dominant, and took a no-hitter into the 8th inning, which the Kingfish ultimately broke up. The only run the Kingfish scored was on a Marty Bechina groundout, which brought Blake Reese home to score.

Rhett Rapshus took the hill for the Kingfish, and in the end was given the loss. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 4 earned runs to score. He surrendered a total of 8 hits tonight and struck out 3.

The bullpen shut the Mallards out the rest of the way. Andrew Burnick threw 2.1 scoreless frames, and JR Holloway added 2 more innings of work without allowing a run. Between all three Kingfish pitchers, the Mallards were able to collect 13 hits.

The Kingfish lineup could only muster 4 hits, all of which came in the final 2 innings. Kingfish All-Star Marty Bechina went 1 for 4 with an RBI tonight. Blake Reese went 1 for 4 with a run scored, and both Mason Fishback and Gunnar McNeill had 1 for 3 evenings at the plate.

The loss sends the Kingfish into the All-Star break on a 2-game skid. Madison has now won all 4 of their games against Kenosha this season. The Kingfish will be back to action Thursday for a two-game series in Battle Creek.
