Kingfish Split Double Header with Bobbers

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish and K-Town Bobbers split the first two games of the 2020 Kenosha Series on Thursday night at Simmons Field.

The first game picked up in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the Kingfish batting after Wednesday night's game was suspended due to rain.

The Kingfish were aided in the bottom of the 4th by a wild pitch and two errors that scored three runs with the bases loaded to take a 4-1 lead. Kenosha tacked on three more runs in the inning on a Kai Murphy (Arizona State) RBI single and a two RBI double by Justin Janis (Illinois) that scored Murphy and Mitchell Buban (UW-Milwaukee) for a 7-1 advantage.

The Bobbers responded with 5 unanswered runs, but Jacob DeLabio (Carthage College) slammed the door on the rally going two innings for the save. Austin Sachen (Washington U-STL) took the loss for K-Town giving up four runs, all earned, in one third of an inning.

Bryant Bagshaw (Dominican University) got the win for the Kingfish giving up two runs with three walks and two strikeouts in three innings of work.

Game 2 was a seven-inning game that saw the Bobbers bounce back and beat the Kingfish 9-0.

Eliot Turnquist (Madison College) took a no-hitter into the 4th inning for the Bobbers picking up the win finishing with four strikeouts, one walk and no runs given up.

Reigning Northwoods League MVP Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina) went 3-4 with a double and three runs driven in for the Bobbers.

K-Town blew the game open with a five run 5th taking advantage of five walks issued by the Kingfish.

Kingfish catcher Jack Thelen (UW-Milwaukee) went 2-3 with a double in a losing effort.

The Kingfish and Bobbers resume the Kenosha Series on Friday night at Simmons Field. First pitch is slated for 6:05 PM CT.
