Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - Looking to continue a 2 game winning streak, the Kingfish travel to Mequon to take on the rival Lakeshore Chinooks at 6:35pm. The contest is the first of six consecutive road games for the squad, as they will later make their way to Minnesota for matchups with the St. Cloud Rox and Mankato Moondogs. The Kingfish will have their hands full as the three opponents have a combined record of 32-15.
Taking the mound tonight for King Elvis' bunch is left-hander JD Nielsen. The freshman from Illinois ranks third on the Kingfish in innings pitched as he makes his third start of the season. Thus far he has held opponents to an impressive .214 batting average. The opposing Chinooks will also send a southpaw to the hill in Cameron Vieaux of Michigan State, making his Northwoods League debut. This appears to be good news for the Kingfish as they have compiled an average of .288 against left-handed pitching, the second best mark in the league.
Last evening's doubleheader with the Wisconsin Woodchucks at historic Simmons Field was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The first game was scheduled to be a continuation of Tuesday's affair in which the Woodchucks led 5-0 with one out in the top of the fourth inning. This game will be completed in its entirety on July 6th with the first pitch slated for 3:05pm, followed by a seven inning contest 30 minutes immediately afterwards. On July 7th the teams will once again play a doubleheader. Beginning at 5:05pm the Kingfish and Woodchucks will play two seven inning games, with the second matchup commencing 30 minutes after the completion of the first.
The team's next home date is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th, as the team welcomes the Chinooks to Kenosha for the first time. The home game features "Halloween in June" presented by Racine Factory of Fear. Fans 12 and under will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat on the field after the game, and all fans are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes. "Smith and Forge Wrestling Night" will be taking place on Thursday the 19th. Among other wrestling-themed promotions throughout the night, a special appearance will be made by WWE Hall of Famer "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
