
Constand, Mallards Look to Paddle Past Rafters

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin- June 12, 2014. Mallards pitcher Tom Constand (Western Illinois) will have to wait for another opportunity to pitch against the first place Lakeshore Chinooks (11-5) after last night's rain out in Mequon. But tonight, he will look to lead the Madison Mallards (10-5) to their eleventh win of the season against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (3-13) in Wisconsin Rapids at 7:05 pm.
Constand aims to build on his last start after pitching June 5th against the Kenosha Kingfish. He tossed 5.1 innings of one run ball, giving up five hits, walking two and striking out four in a 13-4 victory. Constand is 2-0 on the year with a 1.74 era in 11.1 innings pitched, having given up three runs on 12 hits.
The Rafters are coming of a 14-4 win over the Kalamazoo Growlers, just their first win in their last ten games played. Scheduled to start in his first appearance with the Rafters is Zach Jackson, a 6'3", 200-pound righty from the University of Arkansas. Jackson held a 2.53 ERA in 42.2 innings pitched with the Razorbacks, giving up 17 runs on 28 hits and walking 21 batters while striking out 42 in his freshman season.
The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" tomorrow to wrap up their two game home and home series against the Rafters at 7:05 pm. Tomorrow night is Charter Communications Office Space Night with an appearance by Richard Riehle, who played Tom Symkowski, the creator of the Jump to Conclusions Mat. Doc Jams will provide old printers and copiers for fans to smash on the field post-game.
