
Killer Bees Make a Comeback, Win in Overtime 4-3

HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (6-5-0) were able to secure a comeback win against the Allen Americans (6-3-2) on Wednesday night with a final score of 4-3 in overtime.AJ Mikkelsen scored the game winning goal with 44.2 seconds left in the extra frame.
Colton Yellow Horn of the Americans opened up the night's scoring at 5:48 into the first, which left the Bees trailing behind for the period.
The second period was quiet until the Bees found momentum in the second half and scored a pair of power play goals. Nicolas Rioux got the first Killer Bees goal from the top of the right circle at 10:48 into the second period. Dan Gendur and Tim Billingsley earned the assists.
Shortly after, Tim Billingsley helped the Bees gain a one point advantage by scoring another power play goal. For Billinglsey it was his first goal of the season, and first as a professional.
Allen remained scoreless in the second period, trailing behind the Bees, 2-1.
The Bees started off strong in the last period when Jason Beeman stole the puck from Keith Johnson and slid a goal in from the slot at 1:20 into the third period.
Bruce Graham of the Americans answered back only a few minutes afterward making the score 3-2.
After killing off a late penalty to Dan Gendur the Killer Bees were unable to clear the zone and the Americans found the back of the net with only 57.5 seconds remaining in the game. Colton Yellow Horn was credited with the goal.
In overtime the two teams traded chances including the Bees being forced to kill off a penalty. After Allen took a penalty of their only with 59.9 seconds to play the Bees power-play unit scored for the third time of the evening as AJ Mikkelsen ripped a shot from the top of the left circle past Marco Cousineau.
