Kickers Travel to Bethlehem Steel FC Sunday

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Kickers embark on a two-game road stand beginning this Sunday, April 17 when they take on expansion franchise Bethlehem Steel FC. The match will be broadcast live from Goodman Stadium at Lehigh University on YouTube.com/USL at 3:00 p.m.

The Kickers meet the USL's 27th expansion team for the first time in history this weekend. Sunday's match opens the two-game home and away series between the two clubs, who swap home field advantage on June 25th when the Kickers host Bethlehem at City Stadium.

Carrying a 2-0-1 record into this weekend's match, the Kickers edged the defending USL Champions Rochester Rhinos at City Stadium last week. Yudai Imura's lone goal lifted the Kickers to a 1-0 victory as goalkeeper Ryan Taylor and a staunch defensive unit backstopped the club to their second shutout in as many weeks. The Kickers opened the 2016 campaign on March 26th with a win over the Harrisburg City Islanders at City Stadium with captain Michael Callahan, forward Jason Yeisley and Imura contributing to the 3-1 scoreline, before battling the Wilmington Hammerheads to a scoreless draw on the road one week later.

Owned and operated by Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union, Bethlehem Steel FC kicked off their inaugural season with a 1-0 win over FC Montreal last month. Forward Fabian Herbers scored the first-ever goal for the USL newcomers just before halftime to lift Bethlehem to their first franchise win. The club will look to return to winning ways following a two-game slide, most recently dropping 2-1 and 4-0 losses to FC Cincinnati and New York Red Bulls II.

Following Sunday's match, the Kickers head south to face the Charlotte Independence on April 22 before returning to City Stadium to host Toronto FC II and Bike RVA Night on Saturday, April 30. Tickets are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.
