Richmond Kickers News Release
RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday, August 20, 2015) - The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the addition of forward Anthony Grant, prior to the USL roster freeze deadline. He will be available for selection immediately.
Grant comes to Richmond following a standout season with USL Premier Development League (PDL) side Seacoast United. He recently added the PDL Most Valuable Player award to his Golden Boot after the 2015 season that saw him lead the league with 12 regular season goals to earn the Phantoms a second consecutive postseason berth. The native of Kingston, Jamaica tallied 27 goals for the Phantoms over two seasons, finishing second in scoring while earning an All-League selection and being named a PDL MVP Finalist in 2014.
Over two seasons at Bowling Green State University, he notched 31 points in 39 games played, earning a spot on the All-MAC Second Team, OCSA Academic All-Ohio Second Team and an honorable mention on the Academy All-MAC Team. Prior to transferring to Bowling Green, he attended McKendree University where he set school records with 23 goals and 53 points over 18 games, leading the Bearcats to a school record for wins (17).
Previously, Grant was an integral component to the Michigan Bucks 2012 team that advanced to the Fourth Round of the U.S. Open Cup after a pair of upsets over professional teams including the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (4-1) and the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer (3-2 OT) and claimed the PDL Regular Season Title. Additionally, he spent one season with the Syracuse Silver Knights of Major Arena Soccer League.
The Richmond Kickers return to City Stadium this Saturday, August 22 to host Saint Louis FC at Family Fest, presented by Movin' Mania and Bounce 2 The Moon. Admission is just $20 for the whole family and tickets are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.
