Frederick Keys News Release
Frederick, MD- After Tuesday's 26-6 victory over the Crosscutters, the Keys were involved in yet another high scoring affair on Wednesday, winning 16-12 over Williamsport.
After the Keys scored two on a throwing error in the second, they erupted for a seven-run inning that saw three home runs launched. Zaid Walker led off the frame with a solo homer before Roberto Pena followed with a two-run blast. Later in the inning, Kirkland Banks launched a three-run shot of his own, putting the Keys up 9-0.
James Deloatch cruised through his first four innings, allowing just one hit, but ran into a bit of trouble in the fifth inning. After a single and a pair of walks loaded the bases, Williamsport got a run on a groundout before Brayland Skinner blasted a three-run homer to right field.
The fifth inning saw another large home run, this time off the bat of Logan Thomason. The Keys shortstop smacked a grand slam above all three levels of the wall, putting the Keys up 13-5.
The teams traded blows for the next few innings, as Williamsport kept chipping away. They scored four in the ninth inning to put the tying run in the on deck circle before a flyout sealed the 16-12 Keys victory.
Notes:
- Logan Thomason led the team with four runs scored and three hits. Kirkland Banks joined him with a team high 4 RBIs
- The Keys have outscored Williamsport 42-18 in the first two games of the series
