
Kevin St. Pierre named UHL Goaltender of January

Fort Wayne, IN --- The UHL announced today that Komet netminder Kevin St. Pierre has been named the Goaltender of the Month for January, 2004. It's his 2nd UHL Goaltender of the Month award of the season. St. Pierre was also named the UHL Goaltender of the Month for November, 2003. In addition to the monthly awards, St. Pierre has also been named Goaltender of the Week the last 2 consecutive weeks for a total of 4 times so far this season.
The Sherbrooke, Ontario native posted an 11-1-0 record for January while registering a 1.34 goals-against average and .951 save percentage. St. Pierre allowed only 16 goals on 329 shots and earned 4 shutouts in 12 games played. The UHL's top goaltender finished the month of January riding a Komet UHL team record 10-game winning streak and unbeaten in 8 consecutive road games.
St. Pierre also set a new Komet record of 189:01 consecutive shutout minutes for a goaltender in a UHL season. He already owns the UHL record of 248:31 consecutive shutout minutes for a goaltender, set while backstopping the Port Huron Border Cats Jan. 5-Jan. 23, 2001 (also coached by Komet head coach Greg Puhalski). St. Pierre also received many honors during his stint last season with Bakersfield of the WCHL winning the WCHL Goaltender of the Week award 8 times and named the WCHL regular season MVP.
St. Pierre currently leads UHL goalies with a 1.98 goals against average and .926 save percentage in 31 games played.
St. Pierre, 28, is in his 9th pro season, 3rd UHL and first with the Komets.
