Richmond Roosters News Release

The Roosters announced today that first baseman Kevin Brown will not be returning to the club for the 2005 season. In 92 games last season, Brown hit .311 with 68 RBI, and 23 home runs. He led the Frontier League in home runs (23), slugging percentage (.597), and walks (69). The University of Miami product was also named the 2004 Frontier League All-Star Game "Most Valuable Player". Richmond acquired Brown in a trade with Cook County, following the 2003 season. Brown and pitcher David Campos were picked up in exchange for designated hitter Trevor Hall and pitcher Jake Gann. All four players were eventually teammates on the Roosters in 2004.

Pitchers David Campos and Chad Sosebee have also retired. Sosebee's number eleven jersey was retired during a ceremony on August 30th at McBride Stadium.

The Roosters also announced the signing of catcher Tony Sanguinetti. As a rookie in 2004, Sanguinetti hit .228 with 22 RBI in 53 games played. Sanguinetti split time behind the plate with Mike Silva.

The Roosters have released Mike Silva, Jake Gann, and infielder Eric Archer.

Pitcher Bo Moore has been traded to the El Paso Diablos of the Central League for future considerations. Moore made ten starts and five relief appearances last year. He finished 3-1 with a 6.75 ERA.

Pitcher Dustin Kupper has been traded to the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League for future considerations. Kupper joined the Roosters after a stint with the Cincinnati Reds organization. Early in 2004, Kupper pitched for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League and was 1-2 with a 1.83 ERA and 3 saves as a Rooster.

In 2004, the Roosters finished 43-53, 5th place in the Frontier League's Eastern Division. The 2005 season, the 11th in Roosters history, begins at McBride Stadium on May 25th against the Florence Freedom.
