Kernels continue mastery of Snappers, 8-2

The Cedar Rapids Kernels continued their mastery of the Beloit Snappers with an 8-2 win on Wednesday night at Pohlman Field in Beloit. Beau Brooks was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI as Kernels starter Manaurys Correa (5-5) allowed two unearned runs on five hits over seven innings for the win.

The Kernels are 5-0 vs. Beloit so far this year. Alexi Amarista, Roberto Lopez, and Darwin Perez each had two hits as Lopez and Amarista added an RBI each. Gabe Jacobo was 1-5 with an RBI and Adam Younger drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

Christian Scholl and Chris Armstrong each worked a scoreless inning out of the Kernel bullpen. Beloit starter Daniel Berlind (2-9) allowed four runs on five hits, walked three and struck out three over 3.2 innings in taking the loss. Stewart Munroe and Jeff Lanning were both 2-4 and Aaron Hicks added an RBI.
