Kenyon Murray, Ben Reed, Sign with Battle Creek Knights

Battle Creek, Michigan- The Battle Creek Knights professional basketball team announce the signing of Kenyon Murray and Ben Reed for the team's home opening night game on Saturday, April 9th, tip off time 7 p.m., vs. the Vancouver Volcanoes at Kellogg Arena. "To say I'm excited about the opportunity to coach Kenyon and Ben would be an understatement. The Battle Creek Knights have offered a bridge between the past and present for two of Battle Creek Central's basketball greats to play together.," said Knights head coach, Greg Williams, speaking on the two signings by the Knights for opening night.

Kenyon Murray, a 6'5 guard, attended Battle Creek Central High School and the University of Iowa. Kenyon was an all state selection his junior and senior years at Battle Creek Central High School. He was named Mr. Basketball in 1992 while at Battle Creek Central. Kenyon was a four year letter winner at the University of Iowa. Also, Kenyon was named team captain his senior year at Iowa. He lead the Big 10 in steals his junior and senior year at Iowa. Kenyon was third in career steals, 11th in blocked shots, and the 14th overall scoring leader, at the University of Iowa. Kenyon brings a wealth of professional experience to the court by playing overseas in Sweden and China. Also, Kenyon has played professionally in the states with teams in the USBL and the CBA basketball leagues. Kenyon also has coaching experience on his resume by being an assistant coach at Indian Hills Community College (Centreville, Iowa), assistant coach at the University of Iowa, and a player/coach of the USBL Cedar Rapdis River Raiders during 2004.

Ben Reed, a 6'3" guard, attended Battle Creek Central High School and Western Michigan University. Ben was captain of the boy's varsity basketball team and received recognition as a Battle Creek Enquirer Leader of Tomorrow while attending Battle Creek Central High School.

Also, Ben was a state of Michigan Mr. Basketball finalist while at Battle Creek Central High School. Ben was named to the first team All-Mid-American Conference men's basketball team this past 2004-2005 season for the WMU Broncos. Ben finished this past regular season leading the MAC in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game. Ben Reed is currently fourth on WMU men's basketball team all-time scoring list with 1,597 points. Also, Ben was named MAC West Division player of the week on three occasions during his college playing days.
