Kenosha Kingfish News Release
KOKOMO, Ind. - The Kenosha Kingfish (13-12) scored 12 unanswered runs to beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits (9-16) 13-9 on Sunday afternoon at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
The Kingfish trailed 7-0 in the first inning.
Kenosha chipped away at the led with three runs in the second. Zach Nogalski (UW - Milwaukee) drove in two with a double and R.J. Pearson (Oral Roberts) capped the scoring with an RBI, scoring Nogalski.
The Kingfish continued to score runs with four in the third inning off four hits and forced the Jackrabbits to remove starter Jacob Moskowitz (Palomar College) after he allowed seven runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings pitched.
Kenosha's offense in the third was sparked with doubles by Ethan Owens (Drury), Luke Stephenson (Xavier) and Jonah Landowski (Marian). Stephenson's and Landowski's doubles drove in runs while Nogalski drove in his third run of the game on a single to the outfield Noglaski and finished 4-for-4.
Brendan Hueth (Saint Joseph's) led off the fourth inning with a walk and scored on a wild pitch to give Kenosha an 8-7 lead.
The Jackrabbits tied the game 8-8 on a Logan Jarvis (Belmont) sacrifice fly.
Tanner Fallon (Loras College) pitched three innings allowing one run on one hit and struck out one.
The Kingfish blew the doors off the game with a four-run fifth inning off Kokomo relief pitcher Chase Nix (CSU - Arkansas State) that came to a highpoint on a bases clearing double by Hueth. Nix was unable to record an out and gave up all four runs on three hits and a hit by pitch.
Hueth led off the seventh inning with a double, stole third base and scored Kenosha's 13th run on a wild pitch. Hueth finished the day 3-for-5 scoring two runs on two doubles and picking up 3 RBIs.
Fallon got the win for Kenosha, and Nix took the loss for Kokomo.
The Kingfish return to Historic Simmons Field on Tuesday to face the Kokomo Jackrabbits at 7:05 p.m. CT. Keith Kutzler (UW - Whitewater) is slated to toe the rubber for Kenosha.
