
Jackrabbits Snap Kingfish Win Streak

KOKOMO, Ind. - The Kenosha Kingfish (12-12) fell 9-3 to the Kokomo Jackrabbits (9-15) on Saturday night at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
The loss snapped a five game win streak for Kenosha.
With Kenosha trailing 1-0 into the third Kingfish catcher Jack Thelen (UW - Milwaukee) mashed a two-run home run to left field for his first hit of the season. Thelen drove in Connor Mang (New Mexico) who led off the inning with a single and Kenosha had its only lead of the night 2-1.
The Jackrabbits went up 3-2 in the third inning on one hit and tagged the Kingfish for two runs in the fifth on two errors.
Anderson Strunk (Mott Community College) started for Kenosha and pitched five innings. He gave up five runs on three hits while allowing four walks.
The Kingfish responded with a run in the seventh inning after a one out triple by left fielder Ethan Owens (Drury) and an RBI single by Mang. Kenosha trailed the game 5-3 into the bottom half of the inning and Mang finished the night 3-for-3.
The Jackrabbits put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh on two walks and three hits. Kokomo catcher Ben Livorsi (MSU - Mankato) drove in two of the Jackrabbits seventh inning runs on a single and first baseman Jack Kraus capped the scoring in the frame with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Kokomo starter Lucas Folmar (Mercyhurst) exited the game after the seventh. Folmar pitched seven innings allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four.
Kokomo tacked on one more run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to right field by centerfielder Chase Keng (UTSA) and led 9-3. Keng finished the night 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.
Folmar got the win for Kokomo and Strunk took the loss for Kenosha.
The Kingfish return to Kokomo Municipal Stadium on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET to face the Jackrabbits. Riley Wikel (MSOE) is the probable starter for the Kingfish. Wikel has appeared in one game for the Kingfish in relief on July 24 at Rockford. Wikel got the save that night for Kenosha pitching three shutout innings in the Kingfish's 5-2 win over the Rivets.
