Kemper Arena seating decreases by 10,000
November 17, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kansas City Outlaws News Release
Global Spectrum, the facility management company for Kemper Arena, will complete installation of a revolutionary permanent curtaining system that will be utilized on certain events. The 18,000-seat Kemper Arena will become approximately 8,000-seat capacity for an intimate environment for Outlaws (hockey), Comets (soccer), and shows that draw 8,000 people or less.
While the installation of the curtains comes to completion, the Global Spectrum ice crew will be painting the Outlaws logos on the ice from 10 a.m. through 11 a.m. After the opening hockey weekend in October, the ice was melted out for the six-week American Royal.
The curtains, which suspend from the ceiling covering most of the upper level, are operated by remote control as specific sections can be opened if necessary. The system will create an exceptional close-knit experience for all fans attending games and events that make use of the large black curtains.
