
Kelsey Mitchell Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the first time in Mitchell's career that she earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors and also the first Fever player since Tamika Catchings won the award on July 5, 2015.
During the week of May 23-29, Mitchell averaged 23.5 points and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and finishing 10-of-11 from the free throw line. On Tuesday against the Chicago Sky, Mitchell finished with 25 points, scoring 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting and going 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter alone.
In Friday's 101-96 win against the Los Angeles Sparks, Mitchell passed Briann January for third all-time in franchise history for most made field goals, trailing only Catchings (2,385) and Katie Douglas (899) with the most ever made in a Fever jersey. Mitchell's team-high 22 points was the 40th game of her career scoring at least 20 points.
Through 10 games this season, Mitchell is second in the WNBA in points per game (19.0), second in made field goals (67) and tied for third in most made 3-point field goals (22).
