Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons bumped their win streak to three following an 8-5 victory on Tuesday in Walla Walla over the Sweets.
The Falcons jumped out in front in the third when Max Schuman collected an RBI single scoring Trey Kamachi following his lead-off triple.
Tommy Lane led off the Falcons fourth inning with another triple and scored on an RBI sac fly from Nick Minteer.
The Sweets then answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a run off Falcons' starter Matt Moriarty who lasted four innings. He gave up a run on three hits and struck out three in his debut.
In the fifth inning the Falcons added three more runs on RBI hits from Scotland Church and Tommy Lane. Jared Smith also scored after a throwing error.
The Sweets scored five times in the middle three innings to tie the game at five, but the Falcons were not to be denied.
In the top of the eighth Kamachi and Church collected RBIs to put the visitors in front for good.
Schuman added a lead-off homerun in the top of the ninth for the final dagger as the Falcons offense pounded out 15 hits for their third win of the season.
Kamachi, Church and Schuman each had three hits, while Lane and Minteer each had a pair.
Josh Nuernberg was perfect in the final three innings, striking out six hitters on route to his first win of the summer.
The Falcons (3-1) and Sweets (1-3) will play game two of the series on Wednesday night as Jeremy Alderman is the scheduled starter, making his debut.
Friday night the Falcons return home to host the Cowlitz Black Bears in the first of a three game series.
