Kelowna Falcons News Release
Walla Walla, WA: The Kelowna Falcons snapped their four game losing streak on Thursday night, beating the Walla Walla Sweets 5-4 in a wild finish.
The Falcons would take the lead in the top of the second on an RBI single by Preston Gray who would chase home Tucker Alexander. They would score another run in the top of the sixth with Alexander in the mix again. He would record his 13th RBI of the season bringing home Jerry McClanahan who had tripled.
In the seventh, the Falcons added another as Tyler Qualls would score on a wild pitch. On the very next pitch Kyle Pearson slapped a single and set another team record with his 56th hit of the season. He would break the old record held by Tyler Chism set in 2010.
With the Falcons up 3-0 the Sweets woke up in the bottom of the seventh and scored four times to take their first lead of the game, 4-3.
Then in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Falcons down to their final two outs and Kyle Moses standing at first, Qualls hit his first homerun of the season to recapture the lead; 5-4.
David Cagle threw a perfect bottom of the ninth and recorded his first win of the summer.
The Bellingham Bells lost on Thursday night in Wenatchee, giving the Falcons a chance to crawl back into the playoff hunt. The Falcons now just 2.5 games back with four games remaining. The Bells still have seven games left.
The Falcons (27-23) will play game two on Friday night in Walla Walla as the Sweets (20-27) will look to right their ship.
