Kelowna Falcons Lose Shootout

Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Falcons dropped a shootout on Tuesday night to the Walla Walla Sweets 15-12.

After the Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead following the first inning, the Sweets would send 18 men to the plate in the top of the second and score 12 times.

Slowly the Falcons started to chip away at the lead by scoring one in the second, third, fifth and four in the seventh but it wasn't enough. The Sweets would finish off the home side with three runs in their final two at bats.

The Falcons' Kyle Pearson was a one man wrecking crew smacking two homeruns, a triple and six RBIs, accounting for half of the Falcons runs. Pearson hit a solo homer in third and a three run shot in the seventh and now was recorded three homers in the last two games.

Six other Falcons recorded two or more hits, including a three hit night by Greg Friesen.

Juan Padilla suffered the loss as the Falcons fall to 7-5 on the season.

Game two of the four game series against the Sweets is Wednesday night on Dollar Dog Night, hotdogs are only a buck. Gates at 5:30 with the first pitch at 6:35pm as the West Coast League Player of the Week Brandon Marris will get the start.

Thursday night's game against the Sweets is a major fundraiser for the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund. All gate admission will be donated to the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund. The gates open at 5:30pm and tickets can be purchased at the gate.
