SAN JOSE (March 31, 2003) – Kelme, the Spain-based manufacturer of soccer uniforms and shoes and official supplier to the San Jose CyberRays, has delivered the first five pairs of its newest shoe line to the player for whom they were designed and named – CyberRays forward Katia from Brazil.

Katia thus becomes the first foreign player in the WUSA with her own shoe line. She will wear the shoes for the first time publicly in the CyberRays' season opener against the Philadelphia Charge at 7 p.m. Saturday in Spartan Stadium.

``Katia has become such a great player because of her skills with her feet,'' said Duarte Da Silveira, managing director of Kelme USA. ``The challenge for us in designing this shoe for women was to create something worthy of her game and of carrying her name.''

The Katia shoe is black with the Kelme ``K'' on each side in the green and yellow of Katia's native Brazil. Designed especially for forwards and strikers, it will go on sale in Kelme retail outlets nationwide June 15.

Earlier this month Kelme and the CyberRays announced a historic agreement in women's team sports in which Kelme became the team's official uniform supplier and launched a national marketing campaign using the CyberRays as its primary marketing vehicle.
