
Kelly Leads Weekly Award Winners

NEW YORK â Detroit Fury quarterback ANDY KELLY, Chicago Rush offensive/defensive lineman JOHN MOYER and New York Dragons wide receiver/linebacker CHRIS ANTHONY have been named Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 15 of the 2003 season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kelly (6-3, 220, Tennessee), in his 10th AFL season, completed 25-of-40 passes for 310 yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions in the Fury's 76-52 playoff berth-clinching victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators (7-8) on Sunday. The former Volunteer added a rushing touchdown as the Fury (8-7) gained sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division with one week remaining in the regular season. Kelly is currently the AFL's all-time passing leader in touchdowns (545), completions (2,484), attempts (4,043) and yards (27,667). This marks the eighth time Kelly has earned an AFL weekly honor.
ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Moyer (6-3, 265, Eastern Illinois), who is in his rookie season, led Chicago (7-8) on the defensive side of the ball in the Rush's 56-44 loss to the Arizona Rattlers (9-6) on Sunday. The former Panther recorded 6.5 total tackles, a forced fumble and 3.0 sacks. The Lineman of the Year candidate leads the Rush linemen in total tackles (27.5), forced fumbles (3) and sacks (9.0, No. 2 in the AFL). This marks the second time that Moyer has earned an AFL weekly honor.
IRONMAN OF THE WEEK
Anthony (6-3, 200, Iowa State), who is in his rookie season, led New York (7-8) with his two-way performance by hauling in seven receptions for 50 yards and three touchdowns in the Dragons' playoff berth-clinching 49-30 victory over the Buffalo Destroyers (5-10) on Sunday. On his way to Ironman of the Game honors, the former Cyclone added 2.0 total tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. This marks the first time Anthony has earned an AFL weekly honor.
Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner, Dallas' Jim Kubiak, Indiana's Raymond Philyaw, Los Angeles' Russell Shaw, New York's Aaron Garcia and Orlando's Jay Gruden.
ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates include: Buffalo's Dwaine Carpenter, Georgia's Kevin Gaines, Indiana's Shawn Foreman, Los Angeles' Lonnie Ford and Cornelius Coe and San Jose's Clevan Thomas.
Ironman of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Randy Gatewood, Georgia's Darryl Hammond, Indiana's Shawn Foreman, Las Vegas' Sedrick Robinson, Los Angeles' Russell Shaw, Orlando's Cory Fleming, San Jose's Clevan Thomas and Barry Wagner.
