Detroit Fury News Release

Auburn Hills, Mich. -The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League announced today that quarterback Andy Kelly has won the AFL's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Las Vegas Gladiators on Sunday. It is the eighth time in Kelly's career that he has won the weekly honor.

Kelly had his best performance of the season, completing 25-of-40 passes for 310 yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. Kelly also added a one-yard rushing touchdown, his 10th score of the game, at the end of the game that sealed the Fury's victory and a berth in the 2003 ArenaBowl Playoffs.

Kelly, who is currently the AFL's All-Time Career leader in pass attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns, has now led his team to the playoffs for the seventh year in a row. Earlier in the season, Kelly also became the first professional quarterback, in any league, to throw 500 career touchdowns.

"Andy obviously had his best game of the season for us, and some of the credit has to go to the players around him," said Fury Head Coach Al Luginbill. "For the first time all season, Andy had a group of receivers that aggressively went after the ball, and we did a good job of protecting Andy and the ball."

The Fury (8-7) are currently in first place in the Eastern Division and will try to win the Eastern Division when they battle with the Orlando Predators (11-4) at The Palace on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. Playoff tickets for the Fury are on sale this Wednesday, and they can be purchased by calling (248) 377-0100 or logging on to www.detroitfury.com.
