
Keefe named Shock Head Coach

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that they have agreed in principal to name Rob Keefe the Head Coach of the team for the 2010 season.
Keefe spent the 2009 season as the Defensive Back/Special Teams Coach. Under Keefe, the Shock led the league in several defensive categories and finished second in kickoff coverage.
Before his professional coaching career, Keefe spent five years in the AFL and the af2. During his decorated career, Keefe won an ArenaCup Championship (2006) and an Arena Bowl Championship (2008) as a player and a second ArenaCup Championship as a Coach (2009).
Keefe played two seasons with the Shock (2006-2007) and compiled 168 tackles (the most in team history) with 19 interceptions.
"Rob Keefe has been the heart and soul of this team's success as a player and as a coach," Shock CEO/Owner Brady Nelson said. "We know that he is ready to take the next step as a Head Coach and will continue our winning tradition."
The 2010 season will be Keefe's first as a Head Coach.
"I have some big shoes to fill but I'm excited for this opportunity," Keefe said. "As a player, I fell in love with Spokane and I'm proud to represent this city and continue the winning tradition of the Shock."
All coaches' contracts in the new league will go into effect November 1st pending approval from the league.
