Friday night's Premier Basketball League (PBL) game in Quebec City, where the Quebec City Kebs played against the Halifax Rainmen, was just what the doctor ordered. Giving their loyal fans and the 1500 people who attended the game the brilliant victory they had been waiting for. The Quebec City Kebs are relieved to have won the match against the Rainmen ending their losing streak, on home ground, delivering a victory of 100 to 97 in overtime against Halifax.
This victory for the Kebs was the solid work delivered by the team who had collectively reignited their fighting spirit and intensity, which did not waiver for a moment during the game. "It was a masterful performance that the Kebs offered their supporters Friday night," explained Alejandro Hasbani, Head Coach of the Quebec City Kebs.
Kebs key players for the match were Samuel Audet-Sow with 23 points and Jamaal Wise with 22 points. The undeniable star of the team was newcomer Brandon Morris. The Point Guard inspiring the Kebs with his leadership and intensity on the court stealing the ball and landing shot after shot. It was Morris who with three seconds left sealed the Kebs victory, landing a beautiful 3 point shot.
The team is happy with the victory and relieved to end their 9 game losing streak. Alejandro Hasbani praised the work of his players noting that, "Samuel played an excellent game and Jamaal took the team on his back in the second half by attacks and penetrations to the basket relentlessly. "
"There is no doubt that the support of 1,500 fans in the stadium were a source of motivation for the players," explained Jean-Sebastien Roy, VP Marketing for the Kebs. "It was wonderful to see the energy and excitement form the fans... they invaded the floor at the very end of the game to celebrate the victory with Kebs."
Surprised by the tenacity of Kebs, the Rainmen dominated the 3rd quarter by scoring 7 points more than the Kebs, but failed to curb the 4th quarter. Kebs control the action on the court in the fourth quarter; scoring 29 points against the Rainmens' 20. The best players from the Rainmen were; Desmond Ferguson with 22 points and Gary Ervin with 18 points.
Kebs Next Game: Friday, March 12, 2010, against the Vermont Frost Heaves in Quebec City at PEPS Stadium.
