Kasey Beirnes Offensive Player of the Week
February 29, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
Toronto - Today the National Lacrosse League announced their players of the week and Rock forward Kasey Beirnes is the Offensive Player of the Week. The Weekly Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's nine member clubs.
Beirnes found the mark five times in Friday night's 16-12 win over the Rochester Knighthawks. The 31-year old Elora, Ontario native also picked up a pair of assists. His 5 goals and 7 points were both season highs for Beirnes.
Proving he's willing to do the dirty work, Beirnes scooped up 7 loose balls in the victory to bring his team-leading season total to 43.
The Rookie of the Week is Minnesota goaltender Evan Kirk. Calgary's Geoff Snider is the Transition Player of the Week while Edmonton's Kyle Rubisch has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.
The Rock host the Washington Stealth on Saturday night at 7pm at Air Canada Centre in a rematch of the last two Champion's Cup finals. Tickets are available by calling 416-596-3075 or by visiting www.torontorock.com.
