Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced that Minnesota Swarm G Evan Kirk has been named the Week #8 Rookie of the Week. Kirk, who also received the same honor in Week #6, has now won the award following his first career starts at home (2/12) and on the road (2/24).

"Evan has been outstanding," head coach Joe Sullivan said. "What I like about Evan that the average fan is not able to see, is just how mentally prepared he is for each game. He's very quiet in the room, speaks very highly of his teammates and is a very humble person. He has a lot of potential ahead of him and I couldn't be happier for him on winning his second Rookie of the Week award."

Kirk, 24, stopped 43 of 50 shots in his first career start on the road in the Swarm's 15-7 win in Washington on Feb 24. The Hobart College graduate held the Stealth scoreless in the second quarter and allowed only one goal in the fourth quarter.

In two appearances this season, Kirk (2-0) has set Swarm records for lowest goal allowed average (6.50) and highest save percentage (.873) for a rookie goalie in his first two starts.

Kirk also received Rookie of the Week honors back in Week #6 after registering a complete game in the Swarm's 9-6 victory at home against the Rochester Knighthawks on Feb. 12.

Minnesota (4-3) once again travels west this weekend, this time to take on the Calgary Roughnecks (5-2) for a West Division showdown on Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the game online via the NLL Network on NLL.com.
