The National Lacrosse League has announced the winners of the weekly player awards for Week 8 of the 2012 season.
Kasey Beirnes of the Toronto Rock was selected as Offensive Player of the Week. He scored a season-high five goals, drew two assists and picked up seven loose balls in a 16-12 win over Rochester on Friday.
Edmonton defenseman Kyle Rubisch took Defensive Player of the Week honors. Rubsich collected three assists, 11 loose balls, and forced five turnovers to help Edmonton defeat Philadelphia 12-10 on Friday.
Calgary's Geoff Snider repeats as the Transition Player of Week. He scored twice, drew one assist, tracked down 19 loose balls and was 27 for 31 on face-offs as the Roughnecks handed Colorado its first loss of the season, 21-10 on Friday.
Evan Kirk of the Minnesota Swarm picked up Rookie of the Week honors. The rookie goaltender made 43 saves on 50 shots and held Washington scoreless in the second quarter as Minnesota defeated the Stealth 15-7 on Friday.
The weekly player award winners are selected by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
