Sporting Kansas City News Release
The Kansas City Wizards travel to Los Angeles to take on the league-leading Galaxy at 9:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Home Depot Center.
Following an impressive 4-1 home victory over New England last weekend, the Wizards have just one loss in their last six MLS matches and have climbed into postseason contention with ten games left to play. Kansas City is now just five points off pace for the final playoff spot with two months remaining in the 2010 season.
Los Angeles (13-4-4) sits in prime playoff position, atop the Western Conference standings with 43 points and playing seven of their last nine games at The Home Depot Center, where they are 6-1-2 in MLS play this season. However, the Galaxy will be looking to rebound from losses in two of their last three league games, and four of their last six overall.
The last three matches between Los Angeles and Kansas City have ended in draws, including the previous meeting this season when the two sides played to a scoreless stalemate at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on April 24.
Saturday's game will feature some of the top performers in MLS this season on both sides of the field. Kansas City forward Kei Kamara's eight goals and Wizards playmaker Ryan Smith's seven assists are both among league leaders, while Galaxy players top both categories. Los Angeles captain Landon Donovan leads MLS in assists with 11, and Edson Buddle has a league-high 13 goals on the year.
Defensively, both teams boast 2010 MLS All-Star goalkeepers, with Jimmy Nielsen in net for Kansas City and Donovan Ricketts continuing to lead the league's staunchest defense for LA.
Saturday's contest will be broadcast live in HD in both English and Spanish on KCWE Channel 29, and will also be available over the airwaves on La Gran D 1340 AM.

The Wizards are also now accepting initial payments for season tickets for the 2011 season, highlighted by the debut of Chivas Guadalajara star and Mexico international Omar Bravo, and the opening of Kansas City's state-of-the-art soccer stadium next summer.
