Kansas City Explorers Kick Off Their 2008 Season

Kansas City, MO (June 10, 2008) - On July 6, the Kansas City Explorers will kick off their 2008 season with a home opener against the Springfield Lasers.
"We are happy to offer such a wide range of promotions to the people of Kansas City. I hope that everyone will take advantage of our special offers to see some of the top players in the world," GM/co-owner, Jeff Launius said.
The team features four top five players in the world, including the number one men's doubles team, the Bryan Brothers, as well as the number five ranked women's doubles pair, Kveta Pesche and Rennae Stubbs. Returning to the team is fan favorite, Dusan Vemic, and rounding off the team is the young British newcomer, James Auckland.
All matches will be held at the scenic M&I Bank Stadium at Barney Allis Plaza in downtown Kansas City at 12th and Wyandotte. Individual tickets will go on sale Monday, June 2nd and can be purchased through the Explorers website, www.kcexplorers.com or by calling the box office at (816) 513-5630.
Sunday, July 6 and Wednesday, July 23, are "USTA Nights" and Friday, July 11 is "TenCap Night". On their respective nights, all league participants will receive $10 off the purchase of a grandstand ticket by presenting their USTA card at the box office, or by clicking the USTA or TenCap option on the Explorers website.
Wednesday, July 9, is "Kids Night". Anyone between the ages of 3 and 18 will be admitted for only $10. The night will feature the top four twelve and under junior players competing in a mixed doubles exhibition at half time. Also on this night, hotdogs and sodas will be sold for a buck.
NBC Action News and the 2008 Kansas City Explorers are teaming up on Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15 to feed Kansas City's hungry. In return for bringing nonperishable food items to the match, fans will receive two tickets for the price of one. Launius said, "The food drive is a great way to give back to the community and help out people in need."
A "Meet the Team Dinner" will be hosted on Friday, July 18, the night before the Bryan Brother's match, at the Lone Summit Ranch in Lee's Summit. "Its's going to be a fun night and a exciting opportunity for the fans to meet the players," Launius said. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. Dinner tickets will cost $20 per person. Everyone is invited and checks may be made payable to Lone Summit Ranch and RSVP to the Explorers office at (816) 513-5630 no later than July 11th.
