KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current announced a three-year extension today for veteran forward Kristen Hamilton through the 2024 season.

"I can't wait to continue my career here in KC. Everything these owners have put into this organization have made it a place players want to play," said Hamilton. "They've done everything right so far and I'm beyond excited to be a part of the inevitable success of this club on and off the field."

Hamilton was one of three players to come to Kansas City in a blockbuster midseason trade with the North Carolina Courage in exchange for forward Amy Rodriguez, along with defender Hailie Mace and goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland.

Drafted in 2014 by the Western New York Flash, Hamilton sat out her first season due to an ACL injury. She returned in 2015 and made 25 appearances over the next two seasons, including Western New York's NWSL Championship match in 2016. She remained on the roster as the team moved to North Carolina in 2017, and won two more NWSL titles with the Courage.

Hamilton played her 100th career NWSL game on Aug. 25, 2021, scoring the game-winning goal for Kansas City over Racing Louisville in the 40th minute. Along with her former club, Kansas City recognized her milestone in a ceremony prior to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Courage on Sept. 5.

Entering her seventh NWSL season, Hamilton has 108 career regular season appearances, with 17 goals and 10 assists. She currently ranks fifth all-time with eight playoff appearances and second in number of career hat tricks.

Building on an exciting inaugural season, which included the announcement of a new $15 million training facility (opening in 2022) and $70 million stadium (opening 2024), the Kansas City Current are actively preparing for the 2022 NWSL season.

Following the team's four selections in the 2022 NWSL Draft, the Kansas City Current preseason kicks off Feb. 1, with the first match being played as part of the 2022 Challenge Cup starting March 19. For tickets and information, visit KansasCityCurrent.com.
